Since I needed to jumpstart my fitness regime (and since it was breezy tonight), I decided to go for a walk tonight.  Sabine asked to tag along and I told her we’ll do a light 30 minute stroll.  When I mentioned to Sabine that we were at the 10-minute mark, she said, “Oh - I thought we were already at twenty minutes!”  A few minutes later she asked, “Daddy, has it been 3 minutes since you mentioned the time?”  I checked my watch and answered yes and asked how she knew the time.  She replied, “I knew it was 3 minutes because it felt like we’ve been walking for 6!”…Then she explained why lodges in the Alps have high triangular roofs and why it is better to have domed ones in warm places… Love, love, love…

For summer, Sabine wanted to organize a book club.  She created a recruitment poster and so far it is a club of one.  Fueled by her recent viewing of the movie, she sped through Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games” in a day.  She’s currently on “Catching Fire”.  Her recommendation: read it!

“Why?”As in “Why are you wearing a mask while reading?” Her reply: “Because it matches my dress, silly.”

While waiting to leave this morning, I made my 3 children watch Star Wars Uncut - a crowd sourced project, where fans of the franchise contribute 15-second snippets of Episode 4: A New Hope. They absolutely loved it and watched until the end!

Dinner conversation last Wednesday:
Sabine: Daddy, I want to run for class president.Daddy: There are no class presidents in Grade 3, Sabine.Sabine: I know. I meant in June for Grade 4.Daddy: Ok, why do you want to run for class president?Sabine: *Shrugs shoulders* I want to help lead the class?Sabine: Oh and I have many votes already.Sabine: Let me share with you my three-year plan…Daddy: Uh, let me finish my food first…
(I like the goal-setting on this one…)

Sabine has in interesting reading habit. Almost every day, she picks up a book. And randomly opens a page or chapter to read. Of course, this is after she has read the book in its entirety. What a strange way to re-read a book. Today…, I couldn’t help it: I asked her why she does it and what makes her choose a particular chapter. She just shrugged her shoulders and said, “I just open at random.” (Right now she is beside me reading “This Book Is Not Good For You” by Pseudonymous Bosch. She started off by reading the appendix containing recipes and notes. Now she is reading chapter 3 and reading to me interesting quotes from the story). Strange strange strange.

Sabine appeals for some sobriety via a note she wrote to her friends in school.
